[Football] Week 10: GPAC Football Players of the Week

Football – Mon, Nov. 1, 2021

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played on Saturday, October 30, 2021. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2021-22 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/ Football Players-of-the-Week

Offense -Tyson Kooima, Quarterback (Northwestern College)
Northwestern quarterback Tyson Kooima is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Kooima, a senior from Hull, Iowa, made his first start since an injury last season and was perfect through the air. He threw a career-high six touchdown passes in the second-ranked Raiders 63-28 win over the twentieth-ranked Dordt Defenders. In all he threw 13 passes on the afternoon, completing all 13 of them, for 283 yards averaging 21.8 yards per attempt including an 83-yard touchdown toss. The Raiders host third-ranked Morningside on November 6. Kick off will be at 1 pm.

Defense – Cade Wiseman, Defensive Back (Doane University)

Doane defensive back Cade Wiseman is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Wiseman, a freshman, from Sutton, Nebraska, helped pace the Doane defense into a plus-five turnover day against Midland. Making his first career start, he collected his first career interception and returned it 54-yards to put Doane in front in the first quarter, 7-3, a lead they would not relinquish. He added two pass breakups and five tackles in the game. The Tigers travel to Concordia University on November 6. Kick off will be at 1 pm.

Special Teams – Chase Carter, Kicker (Morningside University)
Chase Carter of Morningside is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Carter, a junior from Knoxville, Iowa, ran his current string of made extra point attempts to 25 as he converted double-digit attempts for second time in last three games. In addition, he also launched six of eight kickoffs into end zone for touchbacks. The third-ranked Mustangs travel to take on second-ranked Northwestern on November 6. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
